The Japanese designer, Kenzo, died at the age of 81, last October, defeated by KoronoiThe. However, his work is still captivating, as evidenced by the fact that the art collection and furniture of his apartment in Paris raised EUR 2.5 million, as announced 24 hours ago by the auction house Artcurial.
About 600 items, summarizing the personal universe of Kenzo Takanda, were proposed last Tuesday (11/05) and Wednesday (12/05), as well as the personal collection of the stylist’s fashion creations.
The furniture of Kenzo’s apartment was exhibited from May 7 to 10 at the Artcurial in Paris, attracting hundreds of visitors. An exhibit of 13 photographs by William Egleston, “Cadillac Portfolio”, was auctioned with the largest amount, 46,800 euros. A large wooden horse, belonging to the Chinese Han Dynasty and which dominated Kenzo’s saloon, was sold for 41,600 euros, twice what was estimated.
