Paris Fashion Week, everything you need to know

After the fashion weeks of New York, London and Milan, it is the turn of the fourth fashion capital: Paris. Here, in the Ville Lumière, we will see the latest fashion shows dedicated to the Spring / Summer 2022 collections which, as for the previous fashion weeks, will mostly be physical shows. Of the 97 presentations scheduled in the official calendar of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, about one third will invite the public, with due distancing, the obligation to wear a mask in closed spaces and, according to the current decrees, the green pass .

“There will be all the big fashion houses, with a few exceptions, and we will see new brands. We can feel the “appetite” for physical shows »said Pascal Morand, president of the FHCM. However, digital shows are not only “still” numerous, but a fundamental part of the present and future of fashion: “We will maintain this duality of physical and virtual shows forever. The digital aspect is not just a passing phase »continued Morand, hinting at the richness of these new mediums.

After all, the virtual sphere offers endless possibilities yet to be explored. Recently, for example, Balenciaga announced a partnership with the video game Fortnite, within which users will be able to purchase “virtual” clothes and even a limited range of real goods. It is therefore not surprising that numerous fashion houses continue to test digital platforms: to present in this mode during Paris Fashion Week, among others, we will see Marine Serre, Dries Van Noten e Issey Miyakewhile doing their great return live will be many historical fashion houses, from Chanel to Dior, through Louis Vuitton and Givenchy. The latter, directed just over a year by Matthew Williams, promises to bring a new vision to the catwalk, influenced by the designer’s street style and eclectic background.

A fashion week full of news and returns, but also of great absences, from Celine to Stella McCartney, and celebrations. Not only for the gradual return to “normality”, but also for pay homage to one of the greatest designers of recent decades, who passed away last April: Alber Elbaz. In honor of the former artistic director of Lanvin, who recently unveiled his new AZ Factory brand, a tribute show organized in the name of his latest brand, with garments made by 44 of the most famous and talented designers of our time : a concept taken from Théâtre de la Mode, a Parisian exhibition from 1945 which brought together over 60 couturiers French in the wake of World War II.

To parade for Alber Elbaz, exclusive creations made by Rei Kawakubo, Alessandro Michele, Donatella Versace and Nicolas Ghesquière from Europe, or Ralph Lauren, Virgil Abloh, Daniel Roseberry di Schiaparelli from the United States, Guo Pei from China and many others still. The event, which will be broadcast by AZ Factory on October 5, is titled Love Brings Love, with which not only the designer’s legacy is remembered, but also the warmth and joy that has always been transmitted, in person as well as through his creations and in the relationship with his team. here is the complete calendar of presentations for Spring / Summer 2022 at Paris Fashion Week.
