Paris Stock Exchange, Delphine d’Amarzit first woman at the top

Is called Delphine d’Amarzit, is the number two of the online bank Orange Bank and from March will be the first woman to lead the Paris Stock Exchange. He will assume the leadership of the pan-European Euronext list, the French-Dutch stock exchange based in Paris which will also converge on Borsa Italiana through the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti.

In December they had also done two Italian names: Maria Pierdicchi, formerly at the top of Standard & Poor’s, who had denied it, and Dario Scannapieco, vice president of EIB, the European Investment Bank.

There are already six European exchanges in the Euronext group: Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Dublin, Lisbon, Oslo with over 1,800 listed companies for a total of € 4,400 billion of market capitalization. In the coming months there should also be entry into the Borsa Italiana group, out of the British group London Stock Exchange.

D’Amarzit, 47, worked for the television group Canal + and for the French government as head of the Finance Service for the Economy at General Directorate of the Treasury with responsibility for capital market development, European financial regulation and corporate financing. At Orange Bank he was responsible for overseeing the Operations, Credit, Finance, Risk and Compliance functions.

The summit of the European economy is also female. Christine Lagarde leads the European Central Bank. In Europe, women at the helm of governments and institutions have also been increasing in recent years. In addition to Ursula Von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, there are seven women premieres, Queen Elizabeth of the United Kingdom, the Queen of Denmark and the Greek president Aikaterinī Sakellaropoulou.

In the European Union, countries have a woman as head of government: Denmark (Mette Frederiksen), Germany (Angela Merkel), Iceland (Katrìn Jakobsdòttir), Finland (Sanna Marin), Lithuania (Ingrida Šimonytė) and Norway (Erna Solberg). Estonia is also coming.
