Parkinson’s sufferer Michael J. Fox plays guitar with Coldplay at Glastonbury

Actor Michael J. Fox, 63, surprised the audience at the Glastonbury festival, in England, on Saturday (29), and took to the stage to play guitar during the show by the British band Coldplay.

The “Back to the Future” and “Stuart Little” star, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1991, made an appearance during the performance of “Fix You,” one of the band’s greatest hits. The song is part of the band’s 2005 album “X&Y.”

After the song, vocalist Chris Martin thanked the Canadian actor for his participation and revealed that the saga led by Fox is the main reason for Coldplay’s existence.

“The main reason I started a band was because I watched Back to the Future. I thank our eternal hero and one of the most incredible people in the world, Michael J. Fox,” said the Brit.

The moment was broadcast globally by the BBC and can be seen on the UK state broadcaster’s music channel. Watch below:

Coldplay were the final headline act to take to Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage on Saturday night, with Cyndi Lauper, Disclosure, Camila Cabello and Jessie Ware also performing before them.

The band’s show was marked by the usual pyrotechnics, with fireworks, LED bracelets and lots of confetti, as well as a setlist full of hits. During the performance, classics such as “Yellow”, “Fix You” and “A Sky Full of Stars” shared space with “feelslikeimfallinginlove”, the first single from the British band’s upcoming album.

Actors Tom Cruise (“Mission: Impossible” and “Top Gun”) and Simon Pegg (“Mission: Impossible” and “Star Trek”) went to Worthy Farm to attend Coldplay’s performance. Also there was actress Dakota Johnson (“Madame Teia” and “Fifty Shades of Grey”), who is engaged to vocalist Chris Martin.
