Parliament: Agreements of the Ministry of National Defense for ratification with the Republic of Cyprus, Italy and Israel

The agreement of the Hellenic Republic with the Republic of Cyprus “on the Exchange and Mutual Protection of Classified Information”, the agreement on cooperation between Greek and Italian military schools and the agreement of the Ministries of Defense “Greece and Israel” on the cooperation in fields of Hydrography and Oceanography “.

The agreements are expected to be submitted to the competent committee of the Parliament next Tuesday, 01/03/2022.

The relevant bills of the Ministry of National Defense provide the following:

1. “Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Hellenic Republic and the Government of the Republic of Cyprus on the Exchange and Mutual Protection of Classified Information”: The above Agreement, ratified by Article 28 par. 1 of the Constitution, is ratified and has the force signed in Athens, on November 24, 2017 and aims to ensure the Mutual Protection of Classified Information, jointly produced or exchanged between the two countries, as specifically defined.

2. “Ratification of the Technical Regulation in the field of academic research between the Ministry of National Defense of the Hellenic Republic, represented by the School of National Defense (SETHA), and the Ministry of Defense of the Italian Republic, represented by the Military Training Center ( CEMISS) “: It is ratified and has the force defined by article 28 par. 1 of the Constitution, the above Technical Arrangement, signed in Athens on November 29, 2017 and aims to determine the terms of cooperation in the field of academic research between the two Parties represented from the School of National Defense (SETHA) of our country and from the Military Center for Strategic Studies (CEMISS) of Italy, according to the more specific definitions.

3. “Ratification of the Agreement between the Ministry of Defense of the Hellenic Republic and the Ministry of Defense of the State of Israel on cooperation in the fields of Hydrography and Oceanography”: Ratified and acquires the force defined by article 28 par. The above Agreement, signed in Haifa, Israel on 20 July 2015, aims to promote cooperation between the competent services of the two Parties in the field of watercolor and oceanography, with the aim of enhancing international maritime safety and environmental protection. , the exchange of information in the above areas and the regulation of related issues, as specifically defined.
