Infrastructure projects in the fire-affected areas of eastern Attica, funded by the Republic of Cyprus, are provided for in the Athens-Nicosia Memorandum of Cooperation, which was submitted to the Greek Parliament for ratification.
The memorandum was signed in Athens on October 19, 2021, and its purpose is the cooperation of the parties, for the implementation of infrastructure projects (construction of a complex of social housing and upgrading of the wider green space into a forest recreation area) in the areas of Eastern Attica affected by fires of 2018.
According to the report of the GLC on the bill, the cost of these projects is estimated to amount to approximately 12 million euros, and the financing of the programs will be with a contribution of the Republic of Cyprus in the amount of 10 million euros and with the amount of approximately 973.3 thousand euros from donations from individuals.
In case the above amount is not enough, the other required amount will be covered by the Greek State.
