Parliament: In the afternoon the adoption of the Climate Law by the Plenary

Late in the afternoon – and after a two-day debate – the draft law of the Ministry of Environment and Energy “National Climate Law – Transition to climate neutrality and adaptation to climate change is expected to be voted by the Plenary.

Only ND was in favor of the beginning of the bill, while SYRIZA and PASOK-KINAL had reservations and KKE, EL.LY and MeRA25 stated that they were voting against it.

The leader of the Official Opposition, Alexis Tsipras, is also expected to speak at noon.

At the heart of today’s debate and confrontation between the government and the opposition are the two amendments that provide for:

emergency financial assistance of up to EUR 600 per electricity bill, and

– the mandatory exemption from reforestation of areas that have been declared reforestable but have not been ratified in the forest maps.
