The Athens-Nicosia Memorandum of Cooperation for the implementation of infrastructure projects for the reconstruction and upgrading of the fire-affected areas of Eastern Attica was ratified by the Plenary Session of the Parliament. ND, Movement for Change and Hellenic Solution were in favor, while SYRIZA, KKE and MERA25 voted against.
In fact, especially the refusal of SYRIZA to vote for the works in Mati is added to the refusal of the party of the official opposition a few days ago, to vote for the donation of the St. Niarchos, for the construction of a Pediatric Hospital in Thessaloniki. This is because the new hospital will not be a NPDD but a Legal Entity under Private Law.
The Deputy Minister of Environment & Energy, in charge of spatial planning and urban environment, Nikos Tagaras, noted that the memorandum concerns a donation from the Republic of Cyprus, which, after consultation with the Greek government and Nicosia and local municipalities, will be used for the construction of social housing in Skoufeika, Rafina, covering an area of 16 acres. As he said, about 8,000 square meters will be built, ie about 100 houses, with an average of 80 sq.m. each one.
“I know that the needs in Eastern Attica are many for both health facilities and rehabilitation facilities through social housing and order in the area.
