Parliament: SYRIZA-PS calls for information and vaccination campaign for Roma

A question and request for the submission of documents were submitted by 32 deputies of SYRIZA-PS to the Minister of Health, on the initiative of the deputy of the First East of Attica and if. Head of Culture P. Skouroliakou and the topic of the vaccination program of Greek Roma.

In the text of their question, the deputies point out that the need for mass vaccination of the population is becoming more and more urgent given the outbreak of the pandemic. “However, there are population groups with little or no information about vaccination, such as the Roma, while according to information, their vaccination does not exceed 50% of the total population (150,000 people according to Greek services and 230,000 according to EU data “The project of vaccinating the Roma is a challenge and needs, according to the mediators, special planning and approach”, the SYRIZA-PS MPs state.

In fact, they emphasize that the State must immediately show that there are no second-class citizens for it and, in cooperation with the local government, launch an information and vaccination campaign in the camps of Greek Roma throughout Greece.

Specifically, they ask the Minister of Health:

1. Is there a vaccination and information program for Greek Roma?

2. What is the percentage of full vaccination for the specific social group?

3. Is the information that has been made public that the percentage of vaccinated people does not exceed 50% of their total valid?

4. Is there a program for mass diagnostics of this population group?

Finally, the deputies request the submission of the relevant documents to the parliament

b. for the information program.
