Tomorrow at 2:00 in the afternoon, the Institutions and Transparency Committee will meet behind closed doors regarding the investigation of the indictment of the president of PASOK-KINAL, Nikos Androulakis, for illegal monitoring of his mobile phone.

SYRIZA and PASOK-KINAL had requested the immediate convening of the Institutions Committee, to hear the heads of the EYP and ADAE, characterizing the case of illegal surveillance of Mr. Androulakis as a “major moral and political issue”, while the proposal had been drafted and all the other opposition parties.

According to government sources, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had contacted the Speaker of the Parliament, Costas Tasoulas, by phone, stressing to him the need for the case with Mr. Androulakis’ indictment to be clarified completely and quickly, and asking for it to be convened as soon as possible, even tomorrow. the Institutions Committee.

Discussions on the activity of the EYP are confidential and its members are committed to maintaining this confidentiality even after the end of their term of office. The committee can publish the findings of its audit, always taking into account the above-mentioned obligation of confidentiality. state affairs, as well as any public person for issues related to the functioning of institutions and transparency, whose attendance is mandatory. The committee can summon to a hearing the president and vice-presidents of the Council of State, the Supreme Court and the Court of Audit, the prosecutor of the Supreme Court, the general commissioner of the State Court of Audit and the general commissioner of the administrative courts for matters concerning in 55 operational issues of justice with the aim of enhancing transparency. The committee has the power to collect information and documents and the power to summon and examine persons with the corresponding application of articles 146 and 147.
