The draft law of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the “ratification of the second protocol amending the Mutual Defense Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Hellenic Republic and the Government of the United States of America” was submitted to the Parliament.
It is recalled that the amendment of the Defense Agreement of the Hellenic Republic with the United States was signed by Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias in Washington, on October 14, 2021 with his American counterpart Anthony Blinken. “An agreement that safeguards Greek interests and an agreement that we believe creates a shield to protect our country. It is noted in the same report that the protocol is accompanied by the letter of the Secretary of State of the United States of America from October 12, 2021 to the Prime Minister of Greece, which was delivered on October 14, 2021 and with which Anthony Blinken states that the new updated Agreement Of Defense Cooperation extends the strategic defense partnership between Greece and the United States and clearly demonstrates the two countries’ firm determination to safeguard and mutually protect their sovereignty and territorial integrity against actions that threaten peace, including armed or unarmed. According to the same letter, as noted, the United States particularly appreciates Greece’s firm commitment to dialogue with its neighbors and its commitment to resolving disputes peacefully, through diplomacy and in accordance with international law.
