THE Benefits PEC continues as a highlight this Tuesday (5), amid the additional inclusions of aids in the text, which generate fears regarding the spending ceiling for 2022 and 2023.
Last week, the expenditure was estimated at R$ 34 billion, but a day later it rose to R$ 38.7 billion. This week, benefits for taxi drivers and application drivers were included and the value exceeded R$ 40 billion. Now, according to estimates, the total cost could reach R$ 58 billion – almost 70% of the entire budget of the Brazil aid of 2022.
Now, the question is whether the part of the project that establishes a state of emergency, which according to analysts is a “blank check” for the government to spend, will be removed from the final project, after pressure from parliamentarians.
