Parliamentary elections in France: The Minister of Health is not elected, based on the first results

LAST UPDATE: 21.44

Health Minister Brigitte Bourguignon is expected to lose her seat in parliament, the French television channel France 2 TV reported, citing estimates of the results.

Traditionally, ministers who fail to get elected are called upon to resign from the government.

National Assembly Speaker and former Interior Minister Christoph Castaner not elected MPs

Richard Ferrand, the speaker of the National Assembly and a close ally of President Emanuel Macron, admitted tonight that he had lost the parliamentary elections to the candidate of the left-wing Nupes coalition.

“I just found out the results show that the voters of the 6th district of Finistère chose to elect my opponent,” Melanie Tomen told reporters.

Christoph Kastaner, the former interior minister, also announced that he would not be elected.
