Parliamentary Elections in Portugal: Central Range remains in power

The head of the Portuguese center -right government, Prime Minister Luis Modenegrou, was the winner of the early parliamentary elections held on Sunday, but – as a year ago – without a majority guaranteed political stability. At the same time, the far right, represented by the Sega (“Enough”), which continues to increase its rates in every election in recent years, has broken the 20% barrier of the vote for the first time and threatened to overcome the Socialist Party. Based on the almost final results, the fellowship, the Democratic Alliance (AD), received 32.7% of the votes, the Socialists (PS) 23.4% and the Sega 22.6%. Without counting the four main subsets of the Portuguese diaspora votes, as the results of them are expected to be announced in the coming days, the faction of the fellowship will occupy 89 seats from the 230 of the Portuguese National Delegation -more than 116.
