Late on Monday afternoon (16), part of the roof of the Albert Schweitzer Municipal Hospital, in Realengo, collapsed after heavy rain and winds that swept the region. The fall frightened patients who were being treated in the health unit’s infirmary. Fortunately, no one was injured.
In the video, which is circulating on social media, it is possible to see hospital staff moving stretchers and equipment from the room with a damaged ceiling to another, undamaged. There were pieces of plaster and construction material scattered across the floor. Look:
Some patients had to be moved to the hallway temporarily while hospital work crews performed emergency maintenance.
In a note, the Municipal Health Department reported that “due to heavy rain yesterday afternoon (16) in the Realengo neighborhood, the unit suffered structural damage in some areas. Fortunately, no one was injured and the patients were relocated to other wards. The maintenance team was called and repairs were carried out.”
