Partial solar eclipse: Learn all about this Saturday’s phenomenon (29)

The world will live, this Saturday (29), the first solar eclipse of the year 2025. The event will take place from 5:50 am (Brasília time) and will be visible in various parts of the planet, including North America, Europe, Africa, Asia and some areas of South America.

The partial eclipse of the sun can even be seen from Brazil specifically in northern Amapá , but with a very small percentage. The partial eclipse will reach its maximum at 7:59 and will end at 9:34. However, it can be observed by the portal youtube channel Time and Date from 6:30 am (Brasília time). Watch the video below:

If a few weeks ago it was the land that placed itself between the moon and sun, projecting its shadow over our natural satellite and causing a lunar eclipse, this time it is the moon that will place itself between our planet and the sun.

A partial eclipse of the sun happens when the moon is positioned between the star and our planet, blocking a part of the sun’s rays and making the sun appear to have been “bitten” in the sky.

According to NASA, the moon will pass the front and partially block the sun, projecting a shadow in parts of the northern hemisphere. The central region of the shadow of the moon, where the sun would seem completely blocked, does not reach the earth, so No one can see the phenomenon completely this time .

See Observation Tips

  • Do not look at the sun without protection;
  • If you are where the phenomenon will be visible, know that it is not safe to look at a solar eclipse without suitable equipment, as this can cause serious eye injuries;
  • Nor is it recommended to see it by camera lenses, binoculars or telescopes without a suitable filter;
  • The ideal is to use ISO 12312-2 standard lenses, which are not present in normal sunglasses. Remember that ordinary sunglasses are not safe to look straight into the sun, no matter how dark the lenses are.
  • Accessories can be purchased even over the internet, but it is important to make sure they comply with safety standards;
  • If on eclipse day you do not have a safe equipment to observe the phenomenon, another possibility is to resort to indirect observation, made through a projection.
