Partnership Agreement Signed between TPA and Suez Canal Economic Zone

ΟΛΘ Α.Ε. and the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) have signed a Cooperation Agreement to develop international trade and increase their business through the promotion of the Europe-Asia Sea route through the Suez Canal and the Port of Thessaloniki.

According to the announcement, the main goal of this cooperation is the exchange of knowledge and professional experience between the Ports of Port Said and the Port of Thessaloniki and the development of joint initiatives focusing on commercial and educational activities that will enhance freight and passenger flows between Egypt and Greece, such as the creation of a shipping line for vulnerable goods and bulk cargo and the development of cruising.

The Cooperation Pact was signed in an online ceremony attended by the Minister of Shipping and Island Policy, Mr. Giannis Plakiotakis, the General Secretary of Ports, Port Policy and Maritime Investments, Mr. Evangelos Kyriazopoulos, the President of SCZone. Yehia Zaki, General Manager of Port Said, Captain Aly Assem M. Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer of OLTH SA, Mr. Athanasios Liagos, the Managing Director – General Executive Director of OLTH SA, Mr. Franco Nicola Cupolo, the General Investment Manager of OLTH SA, Mr. Artur Davidian, the General Commercial Director of OLTH SA, Mr. Ioannis Fetani and other Executives of the two parties.

The Minister of Shipping and Island Policy, Mr. Giannis Plakiotakis said: “This agreement creates additional opportunities for the further development of maritime trade between Europe and Asia, which are significantly strengthened by the strategic position of the two parties. We are particularly pleased that the Port of Thessaloniki provides an evolving, efficient and reliable network of combined transport, which secures and upgrades the supply chain, offering added value in economic and social level “.

The President of SCZone, Mech. Yehia Zaki, stressed: “This cooperation is stimulated by the mutual interest for the development of significant freight flows, as well as logistics and port interfaces, such as those represented by SCZone and OLTH SA and will result in increased traffic. With four industrial zones and six ports, SCZone is located at the crossroads of Africa, Europe and Asia and covers 461 km2 along the banks of the recently widened Suez Canal, strategically located on the main commercial route. between Europe and Asia, playing a key role in world trade “.
