In analysis of the scenario for the midterm elections in the United States which will be held this Tuesday (8), the journalist and senior researcher at the Brazil Institute at the Wilson Center, Paulo Sotero, spoke in an interview with WW about the possibilities of victory between the Democratic and Republican parties.
For Sotero, there is a “tradition” of victory for the party that is not in control of the White House, however, he reiterates that the scenario is uncertain.
“I think the polls suggest that Republicans will do well in elections, the party that is not in control of the White House always does better in these elections, it’s a tradition. To see how much better it will go, the question of whether the Republicans will take control, we will have to wait and see what the decision is,” he said.
“This is a very high level of suspense, in a country that is losing its way a little on the electoral and political issue, and we’ll see what happens”, adds the researcher.
In these midterm elections, all seats in the House are up for grabs, as well as 35 new senators and governors in 36 states and three territories. The result will be decisive for the future of the government of Joe Biden.
“Tomorrow depends, vitally, on the ability of both parties to mobilize their bases to vote. It’s always like this, but this time a little more”, said Paulo Sotero.
