PASOK-KINAL: Inflation is out of control in Greece

“Today’s announcement by ELSTAT of June inflation of 12.1% when in May it fluctuated at 11.3% confirms that the situation in Greece is now out of control”, commented PASOK-Movement for Change, with a statement from the party’s Finance Department .

He added that it “demonstrates that the Mitsotakis Government is out of place and time and far away from the unbearable reality experienced by the citizens”.

According to the Finance Department of PASOK-Movement for Change, “in practice, inflation runs at a rate of 25% and above for the goods and services that make up the largest part of the consumption expenditure of small and medium-sized and vulnerable households, since the annual changes in housing is 35%, in transport 25% and in food and non-alcoholic beverages 12.6% and given that the annual increases in fuel have now reached 45.6% and in electricity 70.4%”!

He strongly criticizes the government for insisting on “piecemeal and insufficient measures that are a fig leaf for the rampant speculation of the state budget at the expense of mainly small and medium-sized and vulnerable households through high consumption taxes, at a time when studies and forecasts of domestic and international organizations , show that the clouds are thickening over the Greek economy and refute the government’s hyper-optimism”.

PASOK-KINAL concludes with the petition “to remember in New Democracy that the citizens will condemn their indifference much faster than the Prime Minister intends”.
