Architect Ygor Miranda de Sousa, who was at the station at the time of the accident, reported to CNN that the platform was crowded. “There were people trying to get in, and ended up getting a prey at the door, and that safety door ended up closing, then the train went. It started walking, we only heard the noise of the body beating the glass and coming back. And it ended up being crushed,” he said.

In an official note, the viamobility, the concessionaire responsible for the operation of line 5-lilac, expressed deep regret for fatality.

The company said that, at this time, its efforts are focused on identifying the passenger, which did not carry documents, and the location of their families to offer the necessary support.

Viamobility also stated that it is fully collaborating with the competent authorities to investigate the incident and that it is internally investigating the circumstances of the accident.
