A small plane carrying four people crashed in a backyard in Houston, U.S on Friday (6), but all passengers left the aircraft unharmed.
Authorities responded to a report of a small plane crash less than 10 miles from Hobby Airport in Houston, U.S. Texas around 4pm local time.
“Four civilians were on board the aircraft at the time of the accident, all of them left the plane alone, without injuries,” the Corps said. Firemen from Houston on Twitter. “Houston firefighters received reports of a gazebo on fire. [Bombeiros] arrived at the scene quickly and extinguished the fire.”
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) told the CNN in a statement that the plane, a twin-engine Cessna 421, crashed after leaving Hobby Airport at around 2:45 pm. The plane, registered in Mexico, was bound for San Antonio International Airport, according to the statement.
Lalo Gonzalez was supposed to leave for a trip on Friday when he got a call from his brother-in-law telling him to run home. Gonzalez discovered that a small plane had crashed just a few meters from the residence.
“The turbine engine and the little plane landed about 13 feet from the back wall of my house,” he told CNN .
Aerial footage captured by a broadcaster affiliated with CNN showed the plane in the backyard of a neighbor with a broken wing, which had ripped through a fence. Houston firefighters can be seen putting out the flames in the gazebo.
In photos taken by Gonzalez, the plane can be seen largely intact with a charred turbine engine.
Initially, authorities did not allow Gonzalez into his home, which lost electricity, water and gas after the accident, he said. As soon as the police allowed him and his wife to go inside to get their belongings, they discovered the damage caused by the plane.
“My fence, patio and all the lawn chairs are damaged,” he said, adding that a neighbor’s hot tub was “completely burned.”
The National Transportation Safety Board will oversee the investigation and provide additional updates, the FFA said.
