Patricia Travassos: “Tech for good” helps to scale purposes

CNN technology expert Patricia Travassos spoke this Wednesday (6th) about the “tech for good” concept, when technology is used to help others and connects those who can donate to those who need to receive.

Travassos explains that the digital age divides people into two categories: techno-optimists and techno-pessimists, who focus on the threats posed by the misuse of technology. “I am part of the first group, of those who believe in the potential of new tools to solve problems and scale purposes”, says the specialist.

Travassos presents two examples of startups – emerging companies with great growth potential – that have managed to make a social impact: Invisible Food, created by lawyer Daniela Leite, which connects people with leftover food to those in need of donations, and the Garrafa no Mar project. , developed by systems analyst Alexandre Caruso, in which debtors register late payment slips and receive help from platform members to pay off their debts.

“About 200,000 tons of food have already been donated to more than 400 NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) throughout Brazil through Invisible Food, and R$607,000 in overdue bills have already been paid with the help of Garrafa no Mar”, says Travassos. .
