The singer Patti Labelle 80, who is very fond of his tupperware pots and loves cooking (and sells his own line of “Patti Pies”), has shared an interesting story on Sherri Shepherd’s daytime talk show show.
Labelle explained that before Elton John was famous and while still using his birth name, Reginald Dwight, He played piano for her with her band Bluesology when she performed in the United Kingdom . According to Labelle, they also had fun off stage.
“We played a lot of cards, honey. I took all their pounds,” he joked. “All their money. I had to feed them because they had no pounds. No money to eat, understand?”
Labelle said he often received them in their flat (British equivalent to apartment) along with their ninth bandmates Hendryx, Sarah Dash and Cindy Birdsong. She cooked everyone, recalled Labelle, and sent her leftovers home in her tupperware pots.
“My tupperware pots are very important to me. I don’t lend them… and not my shopping bags,” said Labelle. “So I gave them food to take home, and they never returned the pots to me.”
She said she has already mentioned Tupperware’s lack of return to Elton John on occasion, telling him, “I want my blessed Tupperware.”
“So, he calls me about two years later,” she said. “He said, ‘Patti, please come to my show tonight.’ So I asked, ‘Who are you opening the show?’ He replied, ‘Now I’m Elton John.’ I said, ‘Isn’t it?’ He was successful before me, didn’t he? ”
Labelle collaborated with John on his 2005 album, “Classic Moments”. They also performed together in Las Vegas, where the Tupperware subject came up again, she told Shepherd.
“He took his rings and put them on the piano,” said Labelle. “When we ended, I said,” Elton, here are your rings. ” He replied, ‘This is your tupperware.’
She said she still has the “beautiful” ring, which she keeps with love.
