Paul McCartney impressed at the Glastonbury Festival

An epic performance was given by Paul McCartney at the Glastonbury Festival, with songs from the Beatles’ first demo to their latest recordings.

The songwriter and performer, who a week ago he turned 80 years oldwas the oldest star to ever appear at a festival in the south west of England, which celebrated its 50th anniversary, two years late due to the pandemic.

Starting with “Can’t Buy Me Love”, McCartney entertained the crowd with songs spanning a period of almost half a century, from classic Beatles hits to “Come On to Me” from the 2018 Egypt Station album.

Foo Fighters founder Dave Grohl accompanied him to “I Saw Her Standing There” and “Band on the Run”, with the viewers not hiding their excitement.

After his “friend from the west coast of America”, McCartney presented another surprise “from the east coast of America”, Bruce Springsteen. The two played “Glory Days” and “I Wanna Be Your Man”. McCartney, one of the greatest songwriters of the 20th century along with the late John Lennon, paid tribute to his former bandmates during the three-hour show. He played George Harrison’s “Something” and performed a virtual duet with Lennon in “I’ve Got a Feeling.”

Grohl and Springsteen returned to the stage for the finale of “The End” from the album “Abbey Road”.

Paul McCartney personally thanked Dave Grohl and Bruce Springsteen and experienced the applause from the audience before leaving the stage.

The Glastonbury Festival concludes today with the long-awaited appearance of 78-year-old Diana Ross.
