Paul Rudd, known for playing the superhero “Ant-Man”, was voted the sexiest man in the world by People magazine this Wednesday (10), joining the likes of Idris Elba, George Clooney and Bradley Cooper.
Rudd, 52, an actor for 30 years, seemed surprised by the honor, as was his wife.
“I’m self-conscious enough to know that when people hear that I would be chosen for this, they’ll say, ‘What?'” he told People in a cover story.
“She was stunned,” he said, describing the reaction of Julie, his wife of 18 years. “After some laughter and shock, she said, ‘Oh, they got it right.’ That was very kind”
Rudd played Lisa Kudrow’s character Phoebe’s boyfriend in the TV comedy “Friends.” He later took major roles in comedies such as “Knocked Up” before playing Ant-Man in the Marvel superhero movie, followed by a sequel and guest appearances as the character in “Captain America: Civil War” and “Avengers” .
Rudd, who has two children, will appear in “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” and the TV series “The Shrink Next Door.”
Actor Michael B. Jordan was chosen last year as the sexiest man in the world, after John Legend and Idris Elba in 2019 and 2018.
Rudd joked that he expected his life to radically change since he received the annual title.
“I now hope to finally get invited to some of these sexy dinners with Clooney, Pitt and B Jordan,” he said. “And I think I’ll be on a lot more yachts.”
The double special edition of People magazine hits newsstands across the United States on Friday.
