Paula Fernandes says her new album is about self-love: “I’ve been lacking my whole life”

The singer Paula Fernandes 40, said that his new project, “Which love makes you happy?”, reflects his moment in life: experiencing a recent breakup and developing more self-love every day .

The artist’s idea is to celebrate forms of love that differ from society’s standards and also focus on compositions for herself. “I’ve been missing that all my life, so much so that I’ve always made my songs for others, I’ve always made songs for my great loves,” he said in an interview with CNN .

“If I had lived what I’ve been living longer, I wouldn’t have gotten into some of the robberies I got into, because if you’re not loving yourself enough, you have nothing to offer to others and you’re also not prepared to set limits, to also be loved by others”, commented the singer.

The project “Which love makes you happy?” started on social media with videos of celebrities answering the album’s theme question. Among them were Neymar, Boninho, Sandy, Claudia Leitte, Carlinhos Maia, Susana Vieira, Juliana Paes, Paolla Oliveira, Ana Castela, Chitãozinho & Xororó, and others.

At the same time, the singer appeared in a sensual photo shoot on social media and commented on her personal evolution throughout her career. The transformation shown in the images also appears in the new album.

“I even think I’m going to compose differently from now on because my self-love is so great. We are not talking about selfishness, we are talking about loving yourself first to be able to be loved by others and to also be able to love with balance, with maturity. So I think it’s very much in line with my moment”, said Paula Fernandes in the interview.

The new album has 11 tracks, including “Anota à” — part of the first EP — which has more than one million views on the Spotify platform.

The song is an original composition that reflects the lack of relationships after the end and the need to overcome the end. “You will cry for me, write it down. When you miss my kiss and that someone who always made you smile”, say the lyrics.

Furthermore, Fernandes’ objective with his new songs is “to generate reflection in people about what really makes them happy. I think that in this way we give a voice to those who don’t have a voice — I feel that every day that passes people are more in search of that happiness, that liberation”, he commented to CNN .

Paula Fernandes competed in June for the 31st Brazilian Music Award in the “country performer” category — the recognition of the year went to singer Roberta Miranda.
