The singer Paula Fernandes turned 40 this Wednesday (28) . The country singer became famous in Brazil with “Ave Maria Natureza”, a song that was part of the soundtrack of the soap opera “América”, on TV Globo, and was part of her first studio album, “Canções do Vento Sul”, from 2005.

Collecting hits such as “Pássaro de Fogo”, “Pra Você” and “Eu Sem Você”, the Minas Gerais native from Belo Horizonte is the owner of two trophies for Best Sertaneja Music Album at the Latin Grammys with “Amanhecer” and “Origens (Live in Sete Lagoas, Brazil).

Her most recent project, “Qual Amor Te Faz Feliz?”, was an EP released in June of this year, containing six tracks. Of these, four songs were composed by Paula Fernandes, who says that this album is the first in which she has had total artistic control in her entire career.

Paula’s career is marked by some of the most iconic duets in country music, including international collaborations with Taylor Swift and Frank Sinatra. Below, we’ll take a look back at five of the most important duets in the singer’s career:

“Together”, with Luan Santana

Composed for the soundtrack of “A Star Is Born”, a film starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, “Juntos” is a version of “Shallow”, the main song of the film. Paula wrote the Portuguese version, which was released as a duet with Luan Santana and was included in the soundtrack of the soap opera “Bonsucesso”, on TV Globo.

Later, the singer recorded a version of the song alone to include in the 2019 project “Origens”.

“Long Live” with Taylor Swift

Another notable duet by Paula Fernandes is the version with excerpts in Portuguese of “Long Live”, a song that was part of Taylor Swift’s album “Speak Now”. The hit was also the soundtrack for a Globo soap opera, this time the chosen song was “Avenida Brasil”, a hit by João Emanuel Carneiro.

“You’re Still The One” with Shania Twain

So fond of duets, Paula Fernandes released an album composed only of them. The album “Encontros pelo Caminho”, from 2014, features collaborations with Frank Sinatra, Zé Ramalho, Juanes, Victor and Léo and Tim Mc Graw.

Shania Twain, a great reference for the singer from Minas Gerais, could not be left out. The two, who share the same birthday, released a version of “You’re Still The One” together, one of the Canadian singer’s biggest hits.

“Truck Driver”, with Dominguinhos

The album “Encontros pelo Caminho” also features a composition by Roberto Carlos, with whom Paula Fernandes became closer musically over the years. She even participated in the year-end specials of the artist from Espírito Santo alongside Dominguinhos, with whom she released “Caminhoneiro”. The duet was also included in the album “Emoções Sertanejas”, by Roberto Carlos.

“No Need”, with Victor and Léo

The duo Victor and Léo is one of the most frequent collaborations in Paula Fernandes’ career. Together, the three released “Não Precisa”, a hit that was part of the soundtrack of the soap opera “Morde e Assopra”, by Walcyr Carrasco.
