The founder of the Telegram messenger Pavel Durov announced the official launch of the advertising platform, which is still in test mode. He argues that for the average user, the changes will be almost invisible, since ads will not appear in the list of chats, private conversations or groups. Sponsored posts will soon appear only in large channels with more than 1000 subscribers, where ads are already published in the form of regular messages. At the same time, they will correspond to the topic of the channel.
According to Durov, the official Telegram advertising will be unobtrusive. In such publications, users will see only short texts (maximum 160 characters) without images and external links. You don’t need to worry about personal data. Since these are not targeted ads, confidentiality must be ensured. Income from sponsored messages will allow Telegram to provide free and unlimited access to the service. Advertisers will be able to choose the language and theme of the channels, as well as the specific channels on which to display or not display their ads.
Sponsored messages will be moderated before publication. Clickbait, references to personality and preferences, drugs, gambling, smoking and alcohol, weapons, spam and so on are prohibited on the platform. The minimum CPM is € 2. To launch an advertising campaign, you need to have 2 million euros and make a deposit of 1 million euros.
