The head of the Internet of Things center of the mobile operator MTS Pavel Fedosov stated that this company’s service has identified hundreds of illegal mining farms since the beginning of the year. According to the top manager, the leaders in the number of “gray farms” are the Irkutsk region and the North Caucasus.

During his speech at the Kazan Digital Week forum, Pavel Fedosov said that specialists from MTS have developed a platform capable of finding electricity meters that are transmitting understated readings:

“Since the beginning of the year, we have discovered hundreds of mining farms in the territory where our clients serve”

The MTS platform identifies problematic local sections of the energy network using artificial intelligence (AI) tools and big data clusters, identifying signs of electricity theft, a representative of the mobile operator assured.
