Pavlakis: We all have to do whatever vaccine is available

The doctor-researcher of the National Cancer Institute of the USA George Pavlakis, commented on the decision to suspend the start of vaccinations with Johnson & Johnson for coronavirus.

Speaking to ERT, Mr. Pavlakis explained that the unique Johnson & Johnson is similar to that of Astrazeneca. “They have proven to be effective tools that will give another two million vaccinated by the summer. “Otherwise, the vaccinations do not work out and Greece remains unfortified”, he stated characteristically.

“The nucleic acid vaccines (mRNA) of Pfizer, Moderna and later CureVac will win in the long run, but in order not to leave Greece unprotected, all safe tools are applied,” he said, emphasizing that among them are the vaccines of AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson containing adenovirus.

Also, the doctor-researcher of the National Cancer Institute of the USA characterized the issue of vaccinations as very big and stressed that it must be “solved very quickly for the good of all”.

Reiterating that the side effects affect one in a million cases, he pointed out that now that a new immune syndrome due to adenoviruses has been identified, the treatment is faster and better and no heparin is administered.

“The treatment of patients has improved and vaccinations must continue, comparing the 80 to 100 victims a day we have in Greece,” he said. “We all need to get whatever vaccine is available, except for countries that have solved the problem, such as Denmark,” he said.
