Sberbank and VisionLabs announced that Smartix self-service checkouts will offer payment at a glance. This is an innovative service based on computer vision technology.
To make a payment, simply look into the camera: payment takes a few seconds, and the buyer does not even need to take out a card or smartphone.
Any Sber client can connect the service. To do this, in the SberBank Online mobile application, you need to go to the card settings, select the “Pay at a glance” item and take a selfie. After that, at the Smartix self-service checkout, the buyer will only have to select the appropriate payment method and look at the camera.
Using computer vision, the system detects a person’s face, selects the best frame and extracts a biometric template from it, which is then compared with the bank’s existing database. If a match is found between the biometric template and the card linked to it, the transaction is approved.
Great attention is paid to the security of payments. The system is protected from spoofing attacks using printed photos, videos from the screen of mobile devices or 3D masks.
