Payment system MoneyGram will launch a non-custodial crypto wallet

Money transfer service MoneyGram will introduce a non-custodial wallet for digital assets “using stablecoin technology” in the first quarter of 2024.

The new product “will allow customers to convert [криптоактивы] to fiat and vice versa,” company representatives noted.

“Thanks to the services we provide in partnership [со Stellar Development Foundation, SDF] MoneyGram has made progress in ensuring fair access to the global financial system,” said Alex Holmes, head of the payments company.

Last October, MoneyGram added trading and storage options for Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin in its mobile app for US users.

That same month, the Stellar Development Foundation team launched a $100 million fund to provide incentives for developers to build products and utilities on a smart contract platform called Soroban.

Let us recall that in August SDF made a strategic investment in MoneyGram, becoming a minority shareholder and receiving a seat on the board of directors of the payment company.
