PayPal continues to expand its cryptocurrency team

PayPal is seeking employees for several crypto-related positions in its offices in Ireland, further underscoring the firm’s ambition in the fast-growing digital asset market.

Payment giant PayPal has begun assembling a small team in Ireland to support cryptocurrency-related initiatives, according to a local publication Irish Independent. PayPal is looking for employees for offices in Dublin and Dundalk.

In particular, the company is interested in hiring specialists in the direction of compliance with regulatory requirements related to cryptocurrencies, as well as requirements for combating money laundering.

PayPal is actively developing its cryptocurrency services business after adding the ability to buy, sell and store cryptocurrencies for US users in November last year. This proposal has made PayPal one of the largest major financial companies to add support for cryptocurrencies and has fueled the growth of the cryptocurrency market.

In April, PayPal CEO Dan Shulman stated that the company has been exploring the possibilities of digital assets and blockchain for a long time, and the demand for cryptocurrency has significantly exceeded its expectations.

In addition, PayPal recently announced the imminent launch of a “super application” for working with cryptocurrencies – it will be a new cryptocurrency wallet with additional features. Recently it became known that the Uniswap decentralized exchange is in talks with PayPal and Robinhood to integrate their services.
