The growth in sales of PC monitors associated with the COVID-19 pandemic and related isolation measures has stalled. Year-on-year growth continued for five consecutive quarters, but in the third quarter of 2021, sales were lower than in the third quarter of 2020. This conclusion is contained in a report prepared by specialists from the analytical company IDC.
While many countries, especially in the Asia-Pacific region, continued to show strong demand driven by earlier orders placed, key markets in North America and Western Europe saw significant contractions. It is mainly associated with a decrease in consumer demand. Just over 34.8 million monitors were shipped in the third quarter of 2021, down 7.2% from the year before. Moreover, continued supply and logistics problems have further constrained the market.

Dell continues to be the market leader. Having increased shipments by 20.6%, it was able to increase its share from 17.0% to 21.5%.
Ranked second, Lenovo increased shipments by 6.9%. As a result, its market share increased from 10.6% to 12.2%.
TPV is in third place. Over the year, it reduced shipments by 30.1%, which resulted in a decrease in the share of TPV from 15.1% to 11.4%.
The top five also include HP and Samsung. They also cut supplies – by 21.0% and 14.7%. HP’s share for the year decreased from 12.6% to 10.7%, and Samsung’s share – from 9.0% to 8.3%.
