PCC leader Marcola is taken to hospital under heavy guard with nearly 100 police

Marco Willians Herbas Camacho, Marcola, appointed by the authorities as leader of the First Command of the Capital (PCC) faction, was transferred from the federal prison in Brasília for examinations at the Hospital Regional do Gama, a region 37 km from the center of the capital.

The prisoner, who has been in the maximum security penitentiary since January, went by helicopter to the hospital unit under strong escort, with almost 100 police officers at the prison exit, on the way and at the hospital.

According to a source at the top of the prison CNN , this type of transfer is normal. “Because it is Marcola, the escort is reinforced and drew attention,” she said.

According to lawyer Bruno Ferullo, who defends Marcelo in his lawsuits, the detainee is fine, he underwent an endoscopy and routine tests.

In a note, the National Secretariat for Penal Policies, of the Ministry of Justice, reported that prisoners held in the Federal Penitentiary System, in accordance with the provisions of the Penal Execution Law, have all the necessary assistance according to their individual needs, “in addition to having multidisciplinary health team composed of doctors, nurses, technicians, dentists, psychologists and social workers.

The “record holder”

In July, the CNN showed that Marcola is the leader of a criminal faction in Brazil with the longest sentence to serve: 338 years. There were 342, but the São Paulo Court of Justice (TJSP) reduced a sentence for theft committed by him and his associates in 1986 by four years, altering the prisoner’s total sentence.

Since he was appointed as the top leader of the PCC, Marcola has been accused of committing several crimes from inside prison. He was convicted of a series of murders committed while he was already behind bars.

His longest conviction, 160 years, was determined in March 2013, when he was found guilty of killing eight prisoners at the House of Detention in Carandiru (SP).

Most of the convictions (290 years in prison) were for crimes when Marcola was in prison, as the mastermind of robberies and homicides. Another 40 years of sentence were for robbing cars, banks and securities companies between 1980 and 1990. He was also convicted of the death of a judge in São Paulo, in 2003.

In all interrogations, Marcola denies being a member of the PCC. However, the Public Ministry has been denouncing the detainee as the leader of massacres, attacks and murders of public agents, formation of a gang and association with a criminal organization.
