In an interview with CNN, the lawyer Paulo Henrique Rodrigues Pereira, a partner at LacLaw Consultoria Tributária, said that the government should find more difficulties in the Senate for the approval of the PEC dos Precatórios.
“The Senate environment is not so adhesive to the government’s legislative approval platform for amendments, which is being successful in the Chamber”, says the expert.
Pereira cites the CPI on the Pandemic as a reflection of how the environment in the Senate is more complex than in the Chamber of Deputies and points out differences between Lira and Pacheco.
“The government will not have an actor as important as Arthur Lira is in the Chamber. Pacheco has a different agenda, he is a pre-candidate for the presidency in 2022 and will probably have a tone of criticism,” he says.
The approval of the PEC dos Precatórios is fundamental for the budget of the new Bolsa Família, one of the government’s short-term priorities considering the election year.
The proposal was approved in the second round in the Chamber of Deputies and now goes to the Federal Senate.
