In an interview with CNN this Wednesday (7), the economist at ASA Investments and former Secretary of the National Treasury, Jeferson Bittencourt, said that the PEC of the Explosion still has no explanation of how the amount will be paid by the new government.
“Various expenses were excluded from the treatment of the ceiling that exceed BRL 50 billion, added to the BRL 145, we reached BRL 200 billion again. From the point of view of fiscal sustainability, the PEC is no longer palatable, it remains as unpalatable as ever. Not only because the value remains the same, but also because there is still no sign of how this value will be paid in the long term”.
The expert also said that parliamentarians are not concerned about the fiscal impact of the proposal. “In practice, [o gasto extrateto] continues to exceed R$ 200 billion”.
This Wednesday night, the plenary of the Federal Senate approved, in the first round, the PEC by 64 votes to 16. There will still be voting in the second round.
Last Tuesday (6), the measure passed the Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ) after agreement. The public spending ceiling was expanded by R$ 145 billion for two years, making it possible to maintain the Auxílio Brasil, which may be renamed Bolsa Família, at R$ 600 next year.
