Cybersecurity agency PeckShield warned investors about possible fraud by the creators of the DeFi Metaswap Gas project.
PeckShield on Twitter
warned investors that Metaswap Gas could be a fraudulent project. According to experts, this is indicated, for example, by the fall of the MGAS MetaSwap token by 46.69%, caused by its sale by the creators of the project.
According to the agency, the scammers have already transferred 1,100 BNB worth about $ 602,000 to the Tornado Cash mixer, so that it would not be possible to track the cryptocurrency wallets where the investors’ money was transferred. This will make it harder to find and refund Metaswap Gas victims.
PeckShield advises investors to immediately withdraw their Metaswap Gas deposits to avoid further losing money, much less adding new ones. In support of PeckShield’s version, Twitter users reported that Metaswap Gas has already deleted all official Twitter, Instagram and Medium accounts.
According to a study by analytical company Chainalysis, in 2021, the total amount of stolen cryptocurrencies was $ 7.7 billion, an increase of 81% over the previous year. A significant part of the funds was stolen through the rug pull scheme. If in 2020 the decentralized finance (DeFi) industry accounted for 1% of losses from fraud with cryptoassets, then in 2021 this figure increased to 37% and reached $ 2.8 billion.
