The renowned Brazilian ex-soccer player Edson Arantes do Nascimento, better known as Pelé, was admitted to a hospital in Sao Paolo, Brazil. The first reports indicate that his state of health is extremely serious.
According to Brazilian media, the former soccer player presented complications of generalized edema and heart failure derived from the colon cancer he suffers from.
Brazilian media confirmed that Pelé entered the hospital accompanied by his wife, Márcia Aoki, and the nurse who cares for him because they noticed that his body was swollen. Doctors diagnosed him with anasarca, an accumulation of fluids in the body, as well as heart failure and mental confusion.
ESPN Brazil reported that Pelé will be subjected to different studies, because, apparently, the cancer treatment he was receiving has not given the expected results. This has set off alarm bells among his followers and friends.
However, minutes after Pelé’s state of health was revealed, his daughter, Kely Nascimento, published a statement clarifying that the former soccer player is fine and is receiving the appropriate treatment.
