Edinho, Pelé’s son and former Santos goalkeeper, arrived this Saturday (24) at the Albert Einsten Hospital, where his father is hospitalized.
Londrina’s coach must spend Christmas with his family.
Pelé’s daughter, Kely Nascimento, published on her social network two photos hugging her brother and wrote “arrive”.
At a press conference last Thursday (22), Edinho was asked why he doesn’t stay with his hospitalized father. He replied that he would like to be present, but he is committed to the team’s agenda. “The more success I get on my path, it brings joy to him there too,” he said.
status of pele
Hospitalized since November 29, Pelé is facing colon cancer and, according to a medical bulletin released to the press last Wednesday (21), his clinical condition worsened. The King no longer responds to chemotherapy therapies and is under palliative care, receiving comfort measures to relieve pain and shortness of breath.
“Edson Arantes do Nascimento presents progression of the oncological disease and requires greater care related to renal and cardiac dysfunctions”, said the medical bulletin on Wednesday. “The patient remains hospitalized in a common room, under the necessary care of the medical team.”
Albert Einstein Hospital has not issued medical bulletins since then.
Pelé underwent surgery to remove the tumor on September 4 last year. He was stable after the surgery, but had to return to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on September 17, after suffering from respiratory instability.
When he recovered, he was transferred to the semi-intensive care unit. Upon admission to the hospital, on November 29, Pelé was also diagnosed with a respiratory infection, from which he has recovered well.
Christmas at the hospital
In another post on Instagram, Kely stated that she and her father will spend Christmas in the hospital and, jokingly, said that they will turn the room “into a sambadrome”.
“Insta family, our Christmas at home has been suspended. We decided with the doctors that, for various reasons, it will be better for us to stay here, with all the care that this new Einstein family gives us !!”, she wrote.
“We, as always, thank you for all the love you show here in Brazil and all over the world! Your love for him, your stories and your prayers are a HUGE comfort because we know we are not alone. Let’s turn this room into a Sambadrome (just kidding), let’s even make caipirinhas (not kidding!!). We wish everyone who celebrates a Christmas that smells like family, full of children, full of those fights and with MUCH Love and Health.”
