An object called Nautilus Cryptomine was launched by TeraWulf. Now the company has 8,000 mining devices with a total capacity of 1 Eh/s. In the coming weeks, TeraWulf intends to add the same number of installations. This will allow the company to bring the farm to a capacity of 1.9 Eh/s by May this year. The company plans to reach the power level of 5.5 Eh/s this year.
The farm is connected to the Susquehanna Nuclear Power Plant in northeastern Pennsylvania. The Nautilus Cryptomine is maintained by Texas-based Talen Energy, in which TeraWulf owns a 25% stake. Thanks to this cooperation, the facility received a significant discount on the electricity tariff. If a business in the state typically pays around $0.09 per kWh, then TeraWulf will pay $0.02 per kWh.
The fact that Cumulus Data, a subsidiary of independent electricity producer Talen Energy, completed the construction of the first data center in the United States, became known in January. At the same time, the environmental organization Earthjustice sued the New York City Community Services Commission (PSC), which approved the use of the Fortistar power plant by the mining company Digihost International.
Recall that in March last year, the Committee for Environmental Protection in the state of New York approved a bill for a two-year ban on the mining of cryptocurrencies on the PoW algorithm. However, New York Mayor Eric Adams believes the bill will harm the state’s economy.
