The new data center will have a capacity of more than 40 MW, achieved through a direct connection to the Susquehanna nuclear power plant in northeast Pennsylvania. The Cumulus Susquehanna data center was the first in Cumulus Data’s future network of 18 interconnected data centers with a planned combined capacity of over 470 MW. On their basis, the first US mining complex Nautilus Cryptomine, operating exclusively on nuclear energy and mining “carbon-free cryptoassets”, will be deployed.
In 2021, the President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, announced that the first bitcoins were mined at a state-owned mining farm powered by geothermal sources.
