Pentarovski: The common implementation is the full implementation of the Prespa Agreement

The President of Northern Macedonia, Stevo Pentarovski, in statements to journalists from his country covering his visit to Athens, stated that in the meeting he had yesterday with Kyriako Mitsotaki, asked him for the help of Greece regarding the promotion of the European course of his country.

Pentarovski also noted that in the meetings with the President of the Hellenic Republic and the Greek Prime Minister he received the assurance that want the full implementation of the Prespa Agreement, while at the same time he underlined the commitment of Northern Macedonia to the full implementation of the Agreement “literally”.

“We are absolutely serious about this. We have a clear political intention to implement all that is written in the text of the agreement and in this regard I asked the Greek side updates on some elements, components of the Prespa Agreement, which are primarily in a kind of waiting due to the coronavirus pandemic.

These are both Committees, set up in the meantime, and there is one Council who must evaluate what has been achieved. “The first intergovernmental council made such an assessment in 2019, since then we have not had such a thing again,” said Stevo Pentarovski.

Regarding the committees for trademarks and for educational, historically and archaeological issues, reiterated what he stated at the beginning of his meeting with the President of the Hellenic Republic, that is, dates have been set for these committees to start meeting again after a break of one and a half years.

He clarified that the Committee on Historical, Archaeological and Educational Issues had held six meetings before the pandemic and “the positive thing is that four of the first four meetings have already taken place. adopted, harmonized and signed by both parties “, while the remaining two minutes will probably be harmonized and signed by the end of this year, if the previously announced meeting takes place.

During the meetings, as Mr. Pentarovski told journalists from his country, the implementation of the Prespa Agreement by the Greek side was also discussed. In particular, for three memoranda that have not yet been ratified by the Greek Parliament, Mr. Pentarovski said that both interlocutors assured that in due course they will be subject to ratification.
