People fled bowling alley after shooting in the US, images show

Images shared with CNN show people fleeing a bowling alley during one of the shootings in Lewiston, Maine, on Wednesday night (25). See the video here.

Resident Nichoel Wyman Arel was driving when she saw a large police presence outside Sparetime Recreation, a local bowling alley.

At least 22 died. Between 50 and 60 people were injured, according to initial reports. The other attack took place in a restaurant.

One suspect remains at large, according to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office. “We are encouraging all businesses to close while we investigate,” the office said.

The Maine State Police asked the public to “stay indoors with doors locked.” “If you see any suspicious activity or individual, call.”

Second largest city

Lewiston is about 35 miles north of Portland and is the second largest city in the state.

Authorities in the neighboring city of Auburn also “strongly urged” residents to shelter in place in light of the shootings, according to a post on X, formerly Twitter. Auburn is less than 2 miles west of Lewiston.

The FBI has offered agents and resources to local authorities, a spokesperson for the Boston field office told CNN .

Maine Governor Janet Mills said tonight that she had been informed of the situation.

“I ask everyone in the area to follow state and local law enforcement guidance. I will continue to monitor the situation and maintain close contact with public security authorities,” said the governor.

Vehicle linked to shooting

Lewiston police said in a Facebook post that they are looking for a vehicle with a black painted front bumper in connection with the shootings.

Maine State Police confirm to CNN that the image is of the suspect’s car.
