At least nine people are trapped on the upper floors of an electronics research institute that caught fire on the outskirts of Moscow, Russian authorities and emergency services said on Monday.
Images broadcast on Telegram channel 112 showed some people breaking windows as black smoke billowed from the building and flames consumed its lower floors.
“According to preliminary information, there are 9 more people in the building. The rescue operation continues,” the emergency ministry said.
At least one person was saved by firefighters, according to the ministry.
Moscow Regional Governor Andrei Vorobyov highlighted that the fire reached three floors of the building.
“According to eyewitnesses, there could be seven more people in the building. The search for victims continues,” commented Vorobyov.
