PEPE MUJICA: Lula attend the second day of the public open to the public

The funeral of the former president of Uruguay, Pepe Mujica, reopens to the public for the second day in a row on Thursday (15), from 10am, at the Lost Steps Hall of the Legislative Palace, in Montevideo.

A source linked to the organization of the ceremony informed the CNN, On Wednesday (14), that the wake would be extended until the arrival of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who was in China.

Lula embarked for Brazil in the early hours of Wednesday in Beijing, around 2 am, still late on Tuesday in Brazil.

According to the source, Lula called the Uruguayan President Yamandú Orsi to ensure that he would arrive in time to say goodbye to his longtime friend.

The aircraft made the same trip route with two scales, for replenishment, one in Moscow, Russian capital, and then Casablanca in Morocco.

According to the Planalto Palace, the president’s trip to Uruguay should take place at 10am this Thursday (15), scheduled to arrive in Montevideo between 13h and 14h.

There is no forecast for the closing of the Mujica wake.

After the ceremony, following the former president’s wish, he will be cremated and the ashes will return to the farm in which he lived in Rincón Del Cerro, outside Montevideo, to be buried under the tree where his dog Manuela is also buried.
