Node World Cancer Day remembered on Tuesday (4), the World Health Organization (WHO) warned that, Every minute, 40 people are diagnosed with the disease worldwide – and undergo cancer treatments to overcome the disease.

“They can’t be successful alone. Throughout the world, WHO works with partners to create global coalitions, catalyze local actions and amplify the voices of cancer-affected people, ”said the entity’s director general, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

In his profile on social network X, Tedros pointed out that WHO operates in various areas, from the supply of medications for pediatric cancer treatments to global campaigns for the elimination of cervical cancer. “We are working to improve the lives of millions of people,” he wrote.

“On World Cancer Day, we honor the courage of those affected by the disease, celebrate scientific progress and reaffirm our commitment to promote health for all,” concluded the director-general.

Among guidance published by WHO to reduce the risk of cancer are:

  • Do not smoke;
  • Practice physical activity regularly;
  • eat fruits and vegetables;
  • Maintain a healthy body weight;
  • Limit alcohol consumption.
