With the aim of taking Covid-19 testing to places with large circulation of people, the state of Pernambuco will start testing in football stadiums. The initiative, in partnership with the clubs, will be applied in the games of the Pernambuco Championship and the Northeast Cup that take place in the state from this Saturday (22).
The first match to receive the action will be that of Náutico x Íbis, at Estádio Eládio de Barros Carvalho – Estádio Aflitos -, which opens this year’s Campeonato Pernambucano season.
“After a lot of effort on the part of Náutico, and with the intermediation of the Secretariat for Economic Development of the Government of Pernambuco, through the Secretariat of Health, a load of a thousand antigen tests was made available to be carried out among the fans who will go to the next game. Saturday, against Ibis, in Aflitos. The testing will not have any cost for the alvirrubro fan”, announced the Náutico.
According to the state government, 10,000 rapid tests will be made available to be applied to the public at football stadiums. Testing continues, normally, in fixed centers and mobile stations in the state.
“To take the exams to places of large circulation, the TestaPE Program will provide 10,000 rapid antigen tests to reinforce surveillance of the new coronavirus during the football competitions that take place in Pernambuco territory starting this Saturday”, informed the government.
In the partnership, it will be up to the clubs to organize the logistics for carrying out the exams in the stadiums, as well as the technical responsibility, both by qualified health professionals, as the insertion of data in the information systems, according to the Pernambuco government.
The new protocols of the Coexistence Plan with Covid-19, which are in force until the 31/01th, determine the maximum capacity of 3 thousand fans in the stadiums of Aflitos, Arruda, Ilha do Retiro and Arena de Pernambuco, and 50% capacity in stadiums with a capacity of less than 6 thousand seats.
In addition, a vaccine passport will be required, with proof of the two doses, and a negative test for Covid-19 done 24 hours in advance for antigen tests and 72 hours for RT-PCR tests.
“It is essential that, with the presence of fans at football games, Pernambuco tests the people who are circulating in these events as much as possible, even if they have reduced capacity. We know that testing is essential for monitoring the virus, especially with the presence of the Ômicron variant. Testing is one of the fundamental initiatives in facing the pandemic”, said the executive secretary of Health Surveillance at SES, Patrícia Ismael.
Covid-19 data in Pernambuco
The State Health Department (SES-PE) recorded, this Friday (21), 2,266 cases of Covid-19. Now, Pernambuco has a total of 663,854 confirmed cases of the disease, of which 55,640 are severe and 608,214 are mild, which are distributed across all 184 municipalities in Pernambuco, in addition to the archipelago of Fernando de Noronha.
Pernambuco has already applied 15,628,084 doses of vaccines against Covid-19 in the population.
“Regarding the first doses, there were 7,398,092 applications (96.17% coverage). Of the total, 6,511,184 people from Pernambuco (84.64%) have already completed their vaccination schedules, with 6,338,083 people who were vaccinated with two-dose immunizations and another 173,101 who received a single-dose vaccine,” said the government. .
Regarding booster doses (third dose), 1,718,808 have already been applied (26.02% coverage) in the state.
