Icon of Brazilian television, journalist and presenter Glória Maria died, on the morning of this Thursday (2), in Rio de Janeiro.
The information was confirmed by TV Globo, where she has been active since the early 1970s.

The president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) published a message on Twitter.
“It is with great sadness that I receive the news of the death of Glória Maria, one of the greatest journalists in the history of our television. Glória was a reporter at important moments in Brazil and the world, she interviewed big names and left her mark in the memory of Brazilian men and women”, said the president.
Ana Maria Braga
On Instagram, the presenter Ana Maria Braga highlighted the representativeness of the journalist as a milestone.
“Today we say goodbye to this warrior, a pioneer in journalism and a courageous storyteller. Her talent and representation are milestones in the history of television and journalism. Go with God, my dear. Just like her name, her memory will always be glorious,” she said.

The Minister of Social Communication, Paulo Pimenta paid tribute in a publication on Twitter.
“Glória carries with her 5 decades of success, she is one of the first black women to conquer a relevant space in the Brazilian media, she managed to inspire an entire generation that felt represented”, she said.

The actor Lazaro Ramos said she was in shock over the loss of a friend.
“You are a milestone in the history of our country. It was very good to follow your work, and even more, to enjoy your pleasant company. I will miss smiling with you”, said Ramos on Instagram.

The singer Valesca Popozuda stated that the journalist will always be remembered.
“Glória Maria was and will always be important to history, an icon she left us today, a woman who left a beautiful life trajectory, rest in peace, may her family have comfort in their hearts. You played her part and will always be remembered by all of us,” she said.

The Minister of Tourism, Daniela Carneiro stated that Glória Maria paved the way for generations of black women.
“With sadness, we received the news of the death of the great journalist, Glória Maria. She was the first woman to go live on Jornal Nacional, a pioneer on TV who paved the way for generations of black women! My condolences to the family!” she said.
