THE Peruvian prosecution service drugs announced the seizure of 58 kg cocaine which was ready to be sent to Belgium from a port in the northern part of the country, packed in dozens of packages bearing Nazi symbols.
The white powder had been distributed in fifty packages which also had the word “Hitler” written on them.
The cargo was found in a container loaded onto a Liberian-flagged ship at a port in Paita, a small town near the border with Ecuador. According to Peruvian media, the captain, who is from Liberia, has been arrested, while the drugs were found hidden in an air conditioner.
As far as is known, this is the first time that the drug prosecution has announced the seizure of a shipment of cocaine with symbols of the Third Reich, Nazi Germany (1933-1945)..
Peru is among the world’s top three cocaine-producing countries; the other two are Colombia and Bolivia. The Peruvian authorities estimate that the production of this substance reaches 400 tons per year. About 22 tons were seized in 2022.
